El teñido es un proceso textil que agrega color a la tela, el hilo y la fibra. Los tintes pueden ser naturales o sintéticos.
Antes de teñir, la tela se trata con mordientes para unir el tinte y hacerlo resistente al agua. Algunos mordientes son naturales, como la sal, el tanino de hiel de roble, el alumbre o el vinagre.
Elección de color
El tinte de tela está disponible en una amplia gama de colores. Considere la paleta de colores que desea para su línea de ropa o piezas individuales. Tenga en cuenta que puede ser difícil hacer coincidir dos veces el mismo tinte de color con una prenda específica, especialmente si la pieza original es una tela estampada o teñida con hilo.
Una guía de colores es útil cuando tela teñida . Las guías Pantone están fácilmente disponibles, aunque el costo las hace prohibitivas para las pequeñas marcas de moda o las empresas emergentes.
Antes de comenzar el proceso de teñido, aplique un mordiente a su tejido. Esto ayudará a que el tinte se adhiera a la tela de manera más uniforme. Esto generalmente se hace con sal o vinagre, dependiendo del tipo de tinte que estés usando. Lo mejor es aplicar el fijador a una temperatura superior a la del baño de tinte. Esto ayudará a evitar que el fijador se derrame de la tela y manche la superficie de trabajo o la ropa. También ayudará a que el tinte permanezca en la fase líquida por más tiempo, dándole más tiempo para fijarse.
Preparación
La tela o las fibras que desea teñir deben limpiarse a fondo, un proceso llamado decapado. A menudo, a los artículos comprados en las tiendas se les han agregado agentes de acabado químico para que se vean nítidos y nuevos, estos evitarán que el color del tinte penetre bien, lo que le dará un resultado más pálido.
Antes de comenzar, debe preparar su baño de tinte como se especifica en las instrucciones del producto de tinte en particular que está utilizando. El tinte en polvo debe disolverse completamente en agua, esto es importante porque asegura que el tinte se distribuya uniformemente por la superficie de la tela o fibra.
También deberá decidir si su tela o fibras necesitan un mordiente, esto se usa para ayudar a que el tinte se "fije" a la tela o fibra. Un mordiente puede ser aluminio, hierro, cobre o incluso leche de soja (aunque esta última producirá un tono de tinte ligeramente más claro). Luego, la tela debe lavarse nuevamente para eliminar cualquier resto de suciedad o productos químicos que puedan interferir con el proceso de coloración.
Tintura
En el proceso de teñido, el tinte se aplica a los textiles. Los tintes se disuelven en agua y se llevan a la temperatura requerida para el tipo de tinte que se utiliza. Durante este tiempo, las moléculas de colorante atraviesan la fibra y son atraídas a su superficie. Esto se llama difusión molecular.
Los tejidos con fibras naturales como el algodón, la lana y el lino absorben y capturan bien los tintes. Las telas sintéticas como el poliéster, el nailon, el spandex, la olefina y el acetato no retienen tanto el tinte. Es importante conocer el contenido de la tela y el tipo de fibra antes de comenzar a teñirla.
Una vez que haya terminado de teñir, enjuague bien la tela con agua tibia o caliente. Al enjuagar es importante agitar la tela para que se elimine el exceso de tinte. Algunos tintes pueden especificar un tiempo específico para esto. Después de enjuagar, deje que la tela se seque al aire o lávela a máquina con una toalla vieja. Mantenga siempre la tela teñida separada de otros artículos para evitar la transferencia de color.
Lavado
Durante este proceso, la tela se lava y se trata con productos químicos alcalinos acuosos y lejía para eliminar las impurezas naturales y prepararla para el teñido. Muchas telas también se lavan con agentes abrillantadores ópticos para obtener blancura.
El teñido en sí se realiza en una plantilla, kier o cuba utilizando un baño de tinte que puede contener varios mordientes según los efectos deseados y las afinidades de las fibras por los tintes utilizados. El teñido también puede ser un proceso lento y costoso.
En los primeros días, los tintes se derivaban de fuentes naturales. El púrpura de Tiro, por ejemplo, era un tinte muy preciado extraído de los cuerpos de los caracoles murex. El carmesí era un tinte extraído de los cuerpos secos del insecto kermes y el marrón sepia se derivaba de la sepia y el pulpo.
La industria química actual ha desarrollado tintes sintéticos que producen colores estables, pero no todos los colores son adecuados para los requisitos de la industria textil en cuanto a resistencia a la luz y estabilidad a la temperatura.
